What this raise calculator does
This page is for employees, HR officers and accounts staff who need a quick picture of a pay rise on basic salary. It is built for Pakistani payroll conversations, where people talk in PKR and often separate basic pay from allowances. You type the current basic, choose percentage or a fixed amount, and optionally add an allowance percentage that is calculated on the new basic.
It does not apply income tax, EOBI, or a department’s stage-wise increment chart. If your office letter names a specific stage or a fixed annual increment in rupees, use the fixed mode and type that amount. If the letter says “10 percent of basic”, use percentage mode.
Percentage raise versus a fixed amount
In percentage mode the tool multiplies current basic by the percent you enter and divides by 100. That product is the monthly increment. New basic is current basic plus that increment. The annual increase line is the monthly increment multiplied by 12. It is not a second raise on top of the monthly one. It answers “how much extra basic arrives in a year if this monthly basic stays in place.”
In fixed mode you type the rupee increase itself. The tool adds it to current basic and also shows what percent that rupee amount is of the old basic. A percentage above 100 is rejected. A fixed amount is not capped at 100, because a promotion can be more than double the old basic.
- Example: current basic PKR 50,000 and a 10 percent increment. Monthly increment is PKR 5,000. New basic is PKR 55,000. The annual increase line is PKR 60,000.
- If you also type an allowance of 40 percent, the allowance is 40 percent of the new basic: PKR 22,000. New basic plus that allowance is PKR 77,000.
How an annual increment sits on basic pay
Many Pakistani employers, including government departments, grant an annual increment on basic pay and leave some allowances unchanged. This calculator follows that habit: the raise lands on basic first. Allowances move only if you type an allowance percent. That percent is applied to the new basic, not to the old one, and not to gross pay.
If house rent or a medical allowance is a fixed rupee amount in your payslip, do not put it in the allowance percent box. Add it yourself after you have the new basic. If an allowance really is a percent of basic, the box is the right place, and you should use the percent from your pay rules rather than a guess.
Common mistakes
The most common slip is typing 10 in fixed mode when you meant 10 percent. Fixed mode treats 10 as PKR 10, so the new basic barely moves. Another slip is running the percent on gross salary when the order says basic only. A third is reading the annual increase line as extra money on top of the new monthly basic. It is the same monthly increment, shown for twelve months.
- Confirm whether the letter says basic, gross, or initial of the pay scale.
- Do not add the annual line to the new basic again when you brief an employee.
- Allowances that are frozen by a circular should stay out of the percent box.
Limitations
This is a planning aid, not a pay order and not official advice. Stages, personal pay, ad hoc relief and tax withholding can all change the cash you take home. Match the result to the letter from your accounts office before you treat it as payable.

Frequently asked questions
Should I use a percentage or a fixed increment?
Use percentage when the order is “X percent of basic”. Use fixed when the order names a rupee amount, such as one increment stage. The mode selector decides which reading the tool uses.
Does the annual increase get added on top of the new basic?
No. The annual figure is the monthly increment times 12. Your new monthly basic is current basic plus the monthly increment only.
Will allowances rise automatically?
Only the optional allowance percent rises, and it is calculated on the new basic. Fixed allowances on your payslip stay as they are unless you change them yourself.
Can I model two increments in one go?
Run it once, note the new basic, then run it again with that figure as the current basic. The form itself applies a single increment.
Why is a 10 percent result different from my payslip?
Payslips often increment basic only, then compute tax and fund deductions on the new gross. This page stops at basic and the optional allowance percent.
Is a government annual increment always a percent?
Not always. Some scales use a fixed stage amount. Read the notification and pick the matching mode. This page does not store pay-scale charts.
