What an online invoice maker needs on the page

A usable invoice tells the customer who is charging them, who must pay, which bill this is, and how the total was built. This generator has those pieces: a From box for your name or business, a Bill to box for the customer, an invoice number, a date, and line items. Each line has a description, a quantity and a rate. The preview multiplies quantity by rate for every line, adds the lines into a subtotal, applies the tax percent you type, and shows the total.

It does not ask for an NTN, STRN, or a full address block in separate fields. If your customer or your tax office expects those, type them inside the From or Bill to text, where they will appear on the preview. Add a payment note the same way if you want an account number on the bill. The tool will not validate those words. You are responsible for what the invoice says.

Required invoice fields, in practice

For a straightforward Pakistani sale, people expect to see the supplier, the buyer, a unique invoice number, the date, a description of what was sold, the quantity, the rate, any tax, and the amount due. This form covers that set. It does not create a tax invoice that satisfies every FBR or provincial format, and it does not submit anything to a tax portal. If you need a registered tax invoice, follow the format your registration requires and use this page only as a draft layout.

Keep the description specific enough that you and the customer can recognise the job later: “Website homepage, March” is more useful than “services”. Quantity can be hours, pieces or a flat 1 for a fixed fee. Rate is the price for one unit, before the tax percent.

Adding tax and a numeric example

The tax box is a percent of the subtotal, not a rupee amount. Tax equals subtotal times that percent divided by 100. Total equals subtotal plus tax. The percent is whatever you type. It is not looked up from FBR.

Example you can copy into the form: one line, quantity 2, rate 1,500, amount 3,000; second line, quantity 1, rate 500, amount 500. Subtotal is 3,500. If you type 0 tax, the total stays 3,500. If you type 10 in the tax box as a percent you have chosen for this draft, tax is 350 and the total is 3,850. That 10 is an illustration of the box, not a sales-tax rate. Use the sales tax calculator when you need to check a country rate, then type the percent you decide on.

Saving as PDF and numbering invoices

Press Print / Save PDF. A print view opens. In the browser’s print dialog, choose “Save as PDF” or “Microsoft Print to PDF” instead of a printer. That file is created on your computer. Batooli does not receive a copy. If the dialog offers headers and footers, turn them off when you want a clean page.

The number starts at INV-001 so the preview is not blank. Change it before you send the invoice. A practical sequence is a prefix plus a running number, such as INV-2026-014, and you never reuse a number for a different customer. If you cancel a bill, keep the number in your own list and mark it cancelled, rather than giving that number to the next job. This page does not remember the last number you used.

Limitations

This is a free layout tool, not accounting software and not official advice. It will not track payments, stock, or tax filings. Check names, amounts and the tax percent before you send the PDF. For the amount in words that many Pakistani cheques and some invoices still show, use the amount-in-words tool and paste the sentence into your covering message if you need it. This invoice preview itself stays numeric.

Frequently asked questions

Which fields should I fill before I send an invoice?

From, Bill to, invoice number, date, and at least one line with a description, quantity and rate. Put NTN, address or bank details in the From or Bill to text if the customer expects them.

How is tax added?

The tax box is a percent of the subtotal. A blank or zero percent leaves the total equal to the subtotal. The tool does not choose a legal rate for you.

How do I save the invoice as a PDF?

Use Print / Save PDF, then choose Save as PDF in the browser print dialog. The file stays on your device.

How should I number invoices?

Use a sequence you can follow, such as INV-2026-014, and do not reuse a number. The form starts at INV-001 only as a placeholder and does not store your last number.

Does Batooli keep a copy of the invoice?

No. The preview is built in your browser. Closing the page clears it. Save the PDF yourself if you need a record.

Can I invoice in a currency other than PKR?

The amounts are plain numbers. Write the currency in the line description or in the From box, for example “Rate in USD”. The tool does not convert currencies.
